Orbital Education MUN Budapest 2026
The Orbital Education Model United Nations event that took place in Budapest was a showcase of student leadership and advanced global perspectives.
Orbital Education schools from across the group came together in early February for an outstanding Model United Nations (MUN) Conference. This year's conference was hosted in the beautiful city of Budapest, Hungary where students were lucky enough to enjoy picturesque snow.
The two-day event welcomed students from the following Orbital Education schools:
Baleares International Colllege, Sa Porrassa, Mallorca
British International School, Ljubljana
Oryx International School, Doha
Britannica International School, Budapest
The event provided a powerful platform for collaboration, dialogue, and global learning as students worked together in this international setting. The event is designed to mirror the pressures, processes, and challenges of real-world diplomacy.
A Collaborative International Experience
A range of distinguished speakers helped open and close the conference, setting the tone for the 2-day event, and then leaving students thinking about their shared responsibility within our global world, well after the closing debates.
Speakers included:
- Mr. Leslie Hayler, Second Secretary of the UK to Hungary
- H.E. Ragnar Almqvist, Ambassador of Ireland to Hungary and Kosovo
- H.E. Cynthia Mayer Zavala, Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador to Hungary
- H.E. Jurijs Pogrebņaks, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Hungary
- Ms. Fanni Földi, City Diplomacy Officer at the Municipality of Budapest.
During the event, students explored the pressing global themes of:
- World Hunger

As they assumed their roles of national representatives and engaged in structured debates addressing these complex global issues., they strengthened essential skills in negotiation, public speaking, research, and critical thinking.
As the conference unfolded, a student-led press team did an excellent job of documenting proceedings, providing commentary on proceedings via articles, social media updates, and short videos.
Developing Future Global Citizens
The Orbital Education MUN experience reflects both the group’s and its member schools’ shared commitment to preparing students for an interconnected, global world. Participants valued the unique opportunity to spend time learning, collaborating, and socialising with peers from diverse countries and cultures, exchanging perspectives that were both different and surprisingly alike.
As students returned to their respective schools, they carried with them fresh insights, meaningful international friendships, and practical experience in diplomacy — further highlighting the vital role of international education in developing thoughtful, responsible, and engaged global citizens.
