Wellbeing Week Across Orbital Schools

We’re thrilled to share that this week was Wellbeing Week across several Orbital Education schools! From engaging workshops to thoughtful discussions and creative activities, our students have embraced a week that’s not just memorable but also incredibly meaningful.
Several schools have participated this week, with the remaining schools running initiatives throughout the year.
What has gone on, and what will come of this?
Students across several Orbital Schools have enjoyed a huge range of wellbeing-focused activities. This has included:
- Lunchtime Pause Pods – to help students take time out from their busy day and enjoy a quiet moment
- Time to reflect on what students want to achieve and how they can be kind to themselves and others
- Activities to reduce stress and anxiety.
- Teamworking activities
- Kindness Challenges
- Discussions about the things we are thankful for.
- PJ Day (we’re looking at you as well, teachers)
- Wellbeing assembly, discussing how music can enhance wellbeing
But this is just the beginning, and we’d like to stress that wellbeing doesn't start and finish this week - initiatives throughout the year will make this a sustained priority, rather than a one-off week.
We also appreciate that wellbeing goes beyond some of the lighter activities, but we also feel that bringing wellbeing to the forefont can open the door to supporting students on a deeper level, and encourages students to be more open and considerate of each other.
In the spirit of making this a long-term and transparent priority. Britannica International school, Shanghai has committed to developing a Wellbeing Charter - a meaningful step beyond the basics, showing a deep and trackable commitment to wellbeing. The charter will be developed by students around what matters to them, and lived by all in school.
And Magno International School has introduced the 'Win at Social' programme, developed by The Social Institute. This programme equips students with age-appropriate guidance to use social media responsibly and safely. Beyond offering practical tips, the programme encourages students to reflect on how their online interactions affect their well-being, relationships, and personal development. This programme now forms part of daily life and learning at Magno.
Why is Wellbeing so important to us?
At Orbital Education, nurturing the whole student is at the heart of everything we do. Yes, we support academic success, but we also recognise that emotional wellbeing plays a vital role in a student's ability to learn, thrive, and grow. After all, students who feel supported and emotionally balanced tend to perform better academically, too.
But it’s about more than just grades. We care deeply about our students' happiness—and what better reason is there?
Creating space for wellbeing activities in school helps strengthen the sense of belonging and teamwork within our communities. It builds stronger relationships between students and staff and fosters a culture where everyone feels safe to speak openly about their mental health. By prioritising emotional development, we’re helping students build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and prepare for life’s challenges—both in and out of the classroom.

Finally, a huge thank you to Britannica International School, Shanghai for the incredible effort, creativity, and passion they’ve poured into this event. Britannica Shanghai has shared carefully crafted materials with all schools across the group, making these fantastic resources available for use, for all, throughout the year.
This collaborative spirit and willingness to share ideas is what makes Orbital so special. We're very fortunate to be such a close-knit and open group of schools, where support, innovation, and shared values help us all grow stronger together. Thank you!
