Orbital Students Shine in IGCSE Results 2025

August 2025

Our schools do a combination of GCSE and International GCSE (IGCSE). IGCSE are the global counterpart to the UK’s GCSEs. They follow the same rigorous standards, are taught and examined in English, and are graded in the UK. The key difference? Some of the questions are adapted to be more accessible to students outside the UK.

What makes our results particularly impressive is that, just like A-Levels, these demanding exams are conducted entirely in English - an extraordinary achievement given that our student body represents 128 nationalities, with most students speaking English as an additional language.

Seven schools across our community offer the IGCSE programme:

  • Oryx International School, Doha
  • United School International, Doha
  • Britannica International School, Shanghai
  • Baleares International College, Sa Porrassa, Mallorca
  • Britannica International School, Budapest
  • British International School Ljubljana
  • British School Quito

Now, let’s dive into the good news…

Across all our schools, an impressive 36% of students achieved top grades A*/A. To put that into perspective, the global average, including students in the UK, is just 21.7%.

Even more encouraging, *82% of our students earned grades A* to C, significantly outperforming the global benchmark of 67.6%.

In short, Orbital students are not just meeting global standards, they’re exceeding them. These remarkable results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire community, parental support, our school teams, and most importantly, our incredible students.

And while these collective achievements speak volumes, we’re also excited to share some standout highlights from individual schools...

While we’re proud of the impressive exam results across our schools, what matters most to us is not just achievement, but individual student progress.

At Orbital, our focus is on the difference we make to each student’s outcomes from the moment they begin their learning journey with us. As a non-selective school group, we don’t hand-pick only the highest-performing students. Instead, our purpose is to help every student reach their personal best, whatever their starting point.

We’re proud to consistently demonstrate strong ‘value-added’ metrics year after year—clear evidence of the academic progress our students make under our care. Just as importantly, we are committed to creating safe, supportive environments where students not only succeed academically but also thrive and enjoy their school experience.
