About the School

British International School of Ljubljana (BISL) (http://www.britishschool.si/) is a growing British-style school serving students aged between 3 and 18 from over 30 nationalities in the capital of beautiful Slovenia, Europe’s “hidden jewel”. Classes are small and the students are eager to learn. BISL is an accredited member of COBIS and in March 2024 met all the standards in an ISI BSO compliance inspection. In a full inspection in 2021 the school achieved OUTSTANDING IN ALL CATEGORIES.

About the Opportunity

The role is to teach History in our Secondary school. You will be responsible for inspiring and enthusing students in their development of knowledge and skills within Key Stages 3-5.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, able to demonstrate a proven commitment to the highest standards of teaching and learning and student achievement; someone with drive and passion who believes in creating a unique, inspiring and outstanding place for learning, able to excite and challenge students of all abilities to make great progress. Applicants should also be prepared to contribute to the wider community aspect of school life, which is expected of every member of the teaching staff.

Applicants must have a relevant degree, teaching qualification and experience of successfully teaching Secondary aged students across Key Stages 3-5. Experience of working with EAL learners from a variety of cultures will be an advantage.

As a British school specialising in the English National Curriculum to a diverse international student population, strong English language is an essential requirement and applications from first language speakers of English will be preferred.

Because of difficulties in obtaining a visa and residency, it will not be possible to consider applicants from nationalities outside of the EU.
